Cornell CIS doctoral candidate, Yi Su was awarded a Bloomberg Data Science Fellowship that will support her thesis research—for up to three years—on machine learning methods for contextual bandit feedback. Her research has applications in recommender systems and search engines, focusing on new techniques for reducing bias in user feedback. She is working towards a Ph.D. in Statistics advised by CS Professor Thorsten Joachims.
The purpose of the Bloomberg Data Science Fellowship is to "provide support and encouragement of groundbreaking publications in both academic journals and conference proceedings.” More details here.
