Kudos to Gao Huang (Cornell), Zhuang Liu (Tsinghua), Kilian Weinberger (Cornell) and Laurens van der Maaaten (FAIR), who were awarded one of the two CVPR 2017 best paper awards for "Densely Connected Convolutional Networks." The paper introduces DenseNets," which connects each layer to every other layer in a feed-forward fashion. The research team was also recognized by Facebook founder Mark Zuckerberg, who acknowledge the group’s work in AI in a recent Facebook post and “its potential to make the world better.”
